I wish for my students to discover both the freedom and discipline that dance provides. Dance provokes creativity; I want to help my students find creativity in the exploration of movement. I wish to give my students enough information and training to help them discover who they are as dancers and human beings. Growing up, dance was always an influential form of guidance for me and I hope to give that guidance to others. By sharing my passion for the art, I hope to enrich my students technique, encourage body positivity and most of all nourish the spirits of these young dancers.
It is my goal as a teacher to provide my students with an enjoyable experience, as well as the knowledge to continue training should they wish to. I hope to also learn from my students. I firmly believe that the students can teach the teacher as much, if not more, than the teacher teaches their students. It is my belief that in a positive learning environment both the students and teacher are gaining knowledge. This is exactly the environment I wish to present in my teaching.
As teachers we are not only transferring our knowledge to our students, but we are teaching them how to live, how to play, how to work and how to enjoy life. I want to have a positive, lasting effect on my students’ lives and I want to provide them with each tool they need to become the successful person that is waiting to be found. By touching my student’s lives, they have also touched mine in helping me grow as a teacher and a person, just as I would like to do to them.
